Looking to get your chubby fingers you’ve trained so hard to optimize for hardcore button mashing on Call of Duty’s prime offering, the Prestige Edition. Well, too bad. If you’re looking to buy Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, there is no Prestige Edition for this version of Call of Duty, but the alternatives are still quite attractive. I’m not too worried about it at all. In fact, my wallet feels a bit relieved. I can barely afford the Hardened Edition of the game… especially not the Console bundle. If there was a Prestige edition, as well, then I would bet bullets it would be $150+. It seems with Call of Duty Elite that Activision is attempting to squeeze every penny out of every player, but it may well be worth the extra cost for some premium service. MMO’s have been doing so for as long as they’ve been popular, and to say that Call of Duty is popular is an understatement. And that’s another thing…. They can charge (within reason) whatever the hell they want, and it will still be a huge success. They’ve certainly made enough money already to buy some sovereign state. If I owned the Call of Duty franchise, and it turned out to be a failure… I’d still feel excessively accomplished. They’re just trying to take advantage of the popularity to bank even bigger. They’ve already won. So, give up and have fun with the rest of us.
Which also reminds me: Call of Duty is fun, and if you want to act like it’s not worth playing… Then you deserve to be milked for your cash.
